Hey!!! you NEETs, nerds, YouTube-link spammers, pedophiles, neo-Nazis,
Yukorin enthusiasts, Nanako SOS admirers, Part-Time-Preachers,
Diplomats' spoiled sons, losers who can't remember Kanji characters,
Big-boobs fans, Weeaboos from all over the world, learners of Japanese
who are too lazy to update their Japanese blogs very often, cunning
linguists, stupid fan girls of Johnny's Boys, and
an electrical super gay who suffers from mental disease
And let's hope Igirisu-jin and the Internet-addicted housewife will come back soon!

This is the place to have a ball!!!!!
Let's support recovery efforts in Japan!!!!!!

>>1 Oh, thank you for making this thread.

Anyway, lately I've got fired from a telephone appointment company.
On Tuesday's noon, I was about to go to my workplace. And then I got a call
from my temporary employment agency."Ah, hello. Mr.Umechi. Can I talk with
you now?" the caller said. "? Yes, OK. What?" I replied.

"Ah..., frankly, you're fired by the company you worked as a telephone appointment
staff member yesterday" said she... Fuck!

I can't understand why the "scumpany" can realize the ability of one beginner on the
first working day of him. Universally speaking, every beginner makes some mistakes.
But the scumpany does so. Son of a gun!

I do think the scumpany is crazy, insane, odd, weird, and cruel.

They should learn that everybody can't realize the ability of one worker on the first day.
Well, I'm glad I'm fired now. And I can say "Hurray! Hurray!" and "Hallelujah!"

That's all. Thank you for reading my idle complaints.

※Scumpany=Scum+Company. It means a company where scum workers work in.

Oh, I wanna write one more thing.

Lately, Ryuhei Ueshima, a member of Japanese comedian trio, Dachyou club(or Ostrich club)
has been said that he resembles new Japanese prime minister Noda.

However, I don't think so. And I wonder if Ueshima can imitate of him completely... Because
I've never seen he can mimic one celebrity completely. His mimicries always resemble only
face of the celebrity, not voice of.

So I'm afraid if he shows his mimic of Noda, it doesn't make all viewers laugh but silent...

Do you agree with me?

Hell, most Americans can't even use English properly.
I'll take someone who is trying and failing over someone who is just plain lazy any day.

Of course, it doesn't help that English is a train-wreck mishmash of other languages, but you go to war with the army you've got...

In a Japanese animation "YuruYuri", it is appended English subtitles in one movie site.
トイレ is translated to "bath-room" in there.
Is this translation popular in America or other English speaking country?

In my opinion, you can use the word when you are at home.
Because the bathroom generally has a toilet in it.
on the other hand, if you are in public places such as a restaurant,
it's better to use a word "restroom".

Hi, there. Day after tomorrow is the 10th anniversary of you know, the 9/11 attacks.
Ah..., time goes by so quickly, right?
At the time, I was...11 years old. And when I watched the footage of the attcks on TV after school,
I was very very shocked. At first, I thought it was just a trailer of one movie. However, I noticed it
was not so, but "nonfiction".
We all shouldn't forget but let our offsprings know the attacks and war is worthless and nonsense.
It's important to all of us. All wars ONLY make casualties and fears and sorrow.
They can't make some benefits, as you surely know.

Ah, today's myself is like Ono Yoko(?). lol.

Well, I need to clean my room... My room now is a little bit dirty. So I will use a "Wave",
a cleaning thing produced by Unicharm.

*Wave is http://www.unicharm.co.jp/wave/product/handy/index.html

I don't know because I am not a native speaker.
But I suppose the word " toilet" is such a blunt expression that people tend to be
reluctant to use it.

Toshishun was a spoiled son weary of earthly life.
He visited a wizard and asked for source of magics.
The wizard said he should have a trial then said not to speak out while he prepares then disappeared.
Night came then monsters attacked him, flames burned him, army of gods casted him into hell but he didn't quite speak anything.
After days of torture, the King Yama got totally angery and made him reborn as a woman.
She was given a lovely baby. One day her super intelligent husband went upset because she couldn't answer him for ages, he squished the baby then she sighed "Ah..."
The wizard appeared and said "Foolish loves are, ruins what no monster could."
I think the wizard is right here.

『杜子春』 has another version.
There at hell the King Yama got angry so he summoned souls of Toshishun's family.
They were transformed into horses, but their faces certainly reminded him of happy days.
The army of hell tortured the horses.
They were beaten, skined, fallen to ground.
Mother whispered to him in her horse form, "I believe you have your reason, you don't have to speak, I'm alright..."
Hearing that Toshishun couldn't help crying "Mother..."
Magic was broken.
The wizard said, "Pity loves are, bind you on the earth, but if you didn't speak out then I would have left you there."

That's an impressive picture! I can understand the reasoning behind keeping the bus there,
but it doesn't look very safe. I'm sure the building was not designed to have that much weight on top of it.

You could build a memorial park near the building with pictures of the bus. Then people could see the real building,
see the pictures of the bus on the top, and get the idea of how high the waves were.

In early 1900, there was a very strong tornado that caused extensive damage to my hometown. The school building
was pushed from the top of a hill down to the bottom. The rail yard and police station were totally destroyed.
The city hall was torn in half.

Many pictures of the damage were taken. Each year, during the town celebrations, a picture board is set up at
many of the damaged sites that show pictures of the damage from the tornado. Much of the landscape is
different from 100 years ago but enough remains that you can understand the scale of the damage by
comparing it to the real world in front of you.

The memorial park idea sounds good. There are many pictures that
show how high Tsunami was.

http://abozo.blog.so-net.ne.jp/2011-03-13-1
It's not that there was rooftop parking space. It's that Tsunami was at least
as high as the hight of the building and after it went away, the car remained on
the top of the building. The ship in the second picture on the same page is one of the most famouse photo.

http://www.iwate-np.co.jp/cgi-bin/topnews.cgi?20110501_6
Maybe it's the same scholor group and they insisted the ship should be
remain there with the building under it strengthened.
But the municipal government insists securing safety is the top priority, meaning
taking the ship away, residents there agreed with it.
So it was taken away. http://peaceman.jugem.jp/?eid=2253

Judging from tornade, you're from America?
The way your town remember the tragedy in early 1900 was good idea.
That way people can raise awareness of natural disaster while they can mourn
the victims of the tornado...

Is that so the bike frame doesn't rust when you take the seat off?
You can take the seat off so nobody steals the bicycle, but then water gets inside the frame and rusts it.
You have to put something over the hole to keep the water out. We use a plastic cap for that here.

I was surprised at a breaking news of Japan. Minister of economy
and industry Hachiro has resigned today. The reason he resigned
is he made some inappropriate comment. One is "Death town",
which was said for the disaster area in Fukushima, and another
"I gave you radioactivity", which was said to a newswritter.

I think the former isn't a problem. Death town is truth we all can't deny.
However, the latter is absolutely a problem. I wanna say his mind is like

Question: yang

Kago chan reminds me of Seinfeld

“The thing I don’t understand about the suicide person is the people who try and commit suicide for
some reason they don’t die and that’s it. They stop trying. Why? Why don’t they just keep trying?
What has changed? Is their life any better now? No. In fact it’s worse because now they’ve found
out one more thing you stink at. Okay, that’s why these people don’t succeed in life to begin with.
Because they give up too easy. I saw, pills don’t work, try a rope. Car won’t start in the garage,
get a tune up. You know what I mean? There’s nothing more rewarding than reaching a goal you have
set for yourself. ”

237 :名無しさん@英語勉強中:2011/09/13(火) 00:17:30.34
You can't give a bone of a chicken to dogs. It breaks vertically and sticks to a dog's throat so
chiken bone is no no to dogs unless if you want to kill them.

>>249
So far they say there's been no radiation leakage. The nuclear facility was not a power generation plant, it was a waste processing plant.
The explosion was not in a reactor or any reactor system, it was in a furnace used to melt down waste.
The site has a reactor, but it is only a very small one used for the generation of radioisotopes. It doesn't make electricity.

once the front line went below the mainland and became cooler , but a strong typhoon (no.12?) blew away the front line above the mainland.

305 :名無しさん@英語勉強中:2011/09/15(木) 06:15:46.93
Well, if you wanted to go off-road to where the beautiful scenery is, a road racer wouldn't be suitable.

306 :名無しさん@英語勉強中:2011/09/15(木) 06:33:02.17
Make sure to wear a helmet if you are riding off-road, and tell someone when and where you will be.
If you are riding alone and get injured, you may not be able to summon help by yourself.
If you make a schedule with someone and you are late, they can come searching for you.
This can save your life!

On the other hand, it's better to try something and fail than to never try and forever wonder if you may have succeeded.

Think of it this way: If your are attacked by an angry bear, it's better to try to fight him than to just give up.
If you just give up, he'll eat you, and you'll be remembered as the pool soul who was eaten by a bear.
If you fight and lose, you'll be remembered as the crazy bastard who got in a fight with a bear and lost.
But if you fight and win, you'll be remembered as the crazy badass motherfucker who kicked a bear's ass in a fistfight!
The odds are 2 to 1 that you'll come out better off, even if you get killed.

319 :名無しさん@英語勉強中:2011/09/16(金) 02:43:28.66
>>318
That's an urban legend. Playing dead will not make a bear leave you alone.
There are two kinds of bear attacks, predatory and self-defense.
Predatory means the bear is hungry and wants to eat you. It will eat dead things too. Playing dead will not help.
Self-Defense means the bear is defending something, usually food or cubs. In this case the bear sees you as a threat,
and will kill you even if you lie down.

320 :名無しさん@英語勉強中:2011/09/16(金) 02:44:59.42
If the bear has not charged at you yet, you can usually just leave the area. Stand tall, speak in a calm voice, and back away.
Do not turn around and run, the bear will chase you, and he can run faster than you.
Do not climb a tree, brown and black bears are expert climbers.
Do not look the bear directly in the eyes, that will make him mad.
If the bear is charging at you, then you have to stand your ground and look like you are ready to fight.
Bears don't like fighting with humans and they will usually turn aside if you don't challenge them.
If he's REALLY mad at you, then you have no choice but to fight him.
The best policy is to avoid being in this situation in the first place.

We almost had a protest near here today, in the city of East St. Louis.
The government is building a large dollar construction project in a very poor neighborhood.
They promised the people that they would be employed in the construction and maintenance.
Instead, they hired illegal labor from another state, and the local business they claim to have hired
was actually a fake. The people were outraged and prepared to march on the construction site
and shut it down, but the riot police were dispatched with clubs and tear gas. The people were scared away.
The government will not allow the press to report about it, not even on the internet,
but they can't stop people from talking or posting about it. Now I've posted it on 2ch, and now even Japan knows.
They might scare us away for a day or two, but the time is coming when people won't be scared enough to give up!

no. just exposed sumo association is still rotten.
obviously hakuho was not in his zone, and he had admitted the reason of last time lost against kotoshogiku was the pressure under the circumstances.
since the retirement of kaio, national Ozeki become absent, sumo association is apprehensive about the loss of galleries.
of course hakuho must know those situations ( i dont know he was in on the fix ) , he was obliged to give in by the invisible power.
whether sumo is a sport or an entertainment , the definition is always vague so the situations wont make progress.

Is 4ch popular BBS in America? I'm japanese but I didn't know it until today.

455 :名無しさん@英語勉強中:2011/09/23(金) 22:52:58.14
so lets talk about one more aspect.
kaio is a symbolic figure especially at kyusyu-basyo. his absence at kyusyu-basyo means lost of enormous money for the sumo association.
if kotosyogiku is promoted to ozeki, since he is also native kyusyu-jin, he may offset kaio's absence at the kyusyu-basyo to come in november.
doubtlessly kotoshogiku is a fabulous fighter,
but personally i dont think he is the most adequate to ozeki in potential compared to tochiozan, kisenosato, toyonoshima etc.

Today I did a short-term parttime job. But I also got an annoying story. Now, I'm gonna tell the story to all of you.
(Forgive me if you're tired with this long long story)

I worked at a shopping mall. Today, the mall has an event(Sorry, I've forgotten the name...) and most customer came
for the event.
I wasn't interested at the event at all. Even if not, I had to work seriously. and factually, I did worked seriously.
The work was to give handbill to passers-by. And the shop I worked is on the 2F. On there, some customers were
seeing the event performing on the 1F. And then five (Maybe, elementary school students)boys came there.
They were seeing it, sitting on the floor and eating McDnald's burgers and fried potatos and juices in front of me...
I thought "Oh no...don't eat these here...". but, after a few seconds, "Well, they will go home when the event is over"
I thought and ignored them. But I was shocked when the event was over, they left all trashs (paperpags, papercups,
and crumbs)there. However, a boy of the group shouted "Who did left these~!?" to someone. And then I thought "Ah,
they call for the bringer to clean up". Although I was expecting they come back and clean up, rhey didn't came there!
After 5minutes, after 10minutes, they didn't. Some passers-by shocked at those things left behind and said"Who did
this? Fuckin' nuts!", passing by me... But, the stupidest is ME. I should've scolded them before they left there...

After all, they finally came back there after 20minutes!At the time, I thought "You son of a gun!". But, because a clean
staff member came there to clean up. So I said loud "Kids who did such silly thing are scum!", although they still were
in there. That's all.

They are pitiful because they can't understand commn sense in this world.

Your English sentence sounds little weird.

551 :名無しさん@英語勉強中:2011/09/26(月) 22:03:51.27
>>549
Yeah, that is a little broken.
In any case, "for the after few decades" is wrong, he wants "after a few decades".

If he's asking if there will be Japanese Shogi experts located in America or China, then just say "America" and "China".
Also, the word "of" after "Shogi" needs to be changed to "in".
"I wonder if there will be any experts of Shogi in America or China after a few decades?"

If you are asking if there will be American or Chinese people who are Shogi experts, that's different.
In this case, American and Chinese are words describing the Shogi expert, so they should come first.
"I wonder if there will be any American or Chinese experts of Shogi after a few decades?"

The first case is asking if there will be any Shogi experts living in America or China.
(Maybe a Japanese moved overseas.)

The second case is asking if there will be any American or Chinese people who are Shogi experts.
(They may have moved to Japan.)

Our way was wet somehow, I slipped and he fell too, but he also was a doctor, while he touched injuries my nose bled and I went into coma.

What I thank you the most is not to doubt individual compatibility first while it solves all problems for you.
I thought it's sort of a situation in which you would ruin yourself in the end when you have emotions, like a trap. We know how charming a trap could be, we believe charms can't be bad itself, and yes, nobody actually has to be a monster in person.
At least when traps don't work properly you need to change some or avoid involving as long as you have urge to touch them badly, which I often had to because I'm a weak individual, while brave people changed a lot.

There was a kid who lived near my parents that died under similar circumstances. He was riding a motorcycle in the woods,
and he struck his head on a branch and crashed. Both of his legs were broken. Since he did not tell anyone where he was,
nobody came looking for him, and it was dark before his parents noticed he was missing.
The police formed a searching party but they did not know where to search. A search of the area was conducted with
no specific focus, and he was not found. He was missing until the next spring, when hikers found the wreckage of
the motorcycle. A second search was done and his body was found almost two kilometers away. He had tried to crawl
back from the wreck to get help. The coroner said based on the evidence he had lived for at least a day after the accident.
If he had told anyone where he was planning to be, he would have been found alive.

The key to learning anything is doing it. Reading books and studying will only get you so far.
Mistakes are a natural part of the process. Avoiding mistakes is avoiding learning.
Show me a person who has never made a mistake, and I will show you a person who has never done anything new!

It's a certain type of rope climbing, to get down quickly. It's used for rescue operations.
You fasten the rope at the top, and the rope goes through a device which allows you to
slow down the rope as it passes through. (Think of a pulley with a brake on it.)
You just let the rope though the device to go down. Skilled people can descend very
quickly this way.

There is a video of this at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gj-E4szMmHU
First he ties a knot at the end of the rope so it can't get pulled through the device
by accident. Then he puts the rope into the rappel device, and uses it to descend.

Making mistakes is no problem, but if you write here with the
purpose of achieving your goal, i think you should at least be able to

Oh that's not good tho. Convo is the most important.
Japanese don't speak English properly coz they care if it's perfect.
To be honest none of natives speak perfectly/correctly lol
that's same in the world. Even you are Japanese, you have some words you don't know.
Keep listening and copy it then speak it. Don't hesitate.
Speaking to natives much helps your English than studying it at school. I'm quite sure about that =]
note:Sorry my English is not perfect tho lol

It's not really a case of like or dislike, but it's just evolved a bit differently. The biggest differences come from
a man called Noah Webster, who changed some English words to both make them easier to learn, and to
try and make the language more independent from British English (since he still saw Britain as an enemy
of the USA). Personally, I prefer British English for some reason, though I went to an American school
when I lived in Ethiopia for a few years.

You are right, however, we have a dilemma.
The perfectionism led Japan to a wealthy country. We can make industrial products without a flaw.
That has been our strong point.

708 :名無しさん@英語勉強中:2011/10/02(日) 21:38:31.47
One tip: If you want your English to sound natural, instead of saying "I am,"
or "you are," or "we are," say "I'm," "you're," or "we're" instead. It's how
many English-speakers write, and it's also how many of them talk! It feels
a bit more "relaxed," too; compare "Let's go get drinks!" to "Let us go get
drinks!" The second one feels TOO formal. It's how a robot would talk.

What's the right consistency for curry? Do you make it watery or thick?
Also, what do you normally add to curry? We put in stew beef, potatoes, carrots,

I sometimes add veggies in season, such as

"negi" is a generic term to indicate all sorts of "negi" vegetables,
strong flavor, green top, white bottom.

It includes, for example, "naganegi", green onions, baby leeks,
"Kujo negi (which is special kind of green onion found in Kyoto)",
"Shimonita negi", etc..

I'd not say Tamanegi is a kind of "negi" because it does not have a green part
but I am not sure that this is common.

Sinophobia and Korea-phobia (the last term is complete made-up) are not that strong in Japan.

Especially toward South Koreans.
See this:
http://www2.ttcn.ne.jp/honkawa/7900.html
That's the proportion of japanese people who feel friendship/affinity to three
countries, US, South Korea, and China. The black line in the middle is for South Korea.

When South Korea is under the autocratic regime, Japanese feeling toward ROK was
not good (c.f. Kim Dae-jung Kidnapping in Tokyo). However, it's getting better after
democratization in 1987.

As to China (the red line), the majority of Japanese people started hating
them after several anti-Japanese protests were staged there.

We are on 2ch and that's the place where people freely express their xenophobia.
So your impression might be exaggerated.

I don't know much about their feeling toward us.
For China, it's manipulated by the PRC government, I guess.
For South Korea, I understand that they hate us because of the colonization.
Even though we did some good thing to them during the period,
we can't say that they guys should thank us.

it's really sad.
his big ego has been changing the world a little bit.

apple has been releasing pretty amazing devises once a year or so.
hope this could continue,
but less likely if you know how sucky the company was before he got back to the CEO position.

He certainly had a very consistent sense of style.

I'm not personally an Apple fan, but it's hard not to see the huge
impact Jobs had on the computer industry.

If anyone is interested in some of the history though, I'd recommend

940 :X:2011/10/06(木) 14:52:33.58

Was this something you heard or read? I'm guessing it was
"tea and crumpets" If the person was
speaking fast it might have sounded like "hats".

A lot of tea drinkers I know like to have a small snack when they
drink tea. Crumpets, cookies, biscotti, etc.

"Just another day" means that nothing unusual happened. The day
was ordinary.

Thanks for your reply.
That's from Ladygaga's latest tweet.

http://twitpic.com/6vlci4
Philip Treacy in the photo is a designer (mainly of hat)
Would you tell me what "have tea and hats with (somebody)" mean now that
you know the context? Gaga is staying in London, UK, where drinking tea is common.

Also, would you tell me what does "Mint blond" mean? Mint(=kind of a herbal leaf) colored blonde?

942 :名無しさん@英語勉強中:2011/10/06(木) 15:17:17.64
I just checked on wiki and found out Ariel Rebel is already 26!
I can't believe that. She looks like 18 or 19. That's surprising, isn't it?

may your soul rest in pease.

947 :X:2011/10/06(木) 15:30:33.05
>>941
Ahhh, okay, she's making a pun. "Tea and Crumpets" is something
that Americans think of as quintessentially English. If an American
ever pretends to be English (as a joke), they most likely will
say something about "tea and crumpets". So she's changing the
phrase to "tea and hats" to fit the situation.

If you look at the picture, her hair is slightly green (and mint is
also green). She just made it up, so "lettuce blonde" or "Spinach
blonde" would have worked too, but "mint blonde" has a nicer ring to
it. We have some other phrases like that "strawberry blonde"
"dirty blonde" etc.

Thank you very much for the detailed explanation. That's perfect.

Thanks a million!

How American look at British and how British look at America is something you need to know when
you have to understand, say, joke etc. Your explanation was perfect!
